Friday, April 17th Line Time: Make a Peace Area at Home

Writer's picture: EC1 TeachersEC1 Teachers

Happy Friday boys and girls! It's Miss Jess, and today, we're going to talk all about how we can create a peaceful area in our home.

In our classroom, we have our Peace Area under the table. You can do something like this at home, too.

It can be in your bedroom, in a corner of your house, outside, whatever you like!

You can have lots of fun things that help you feel peaceful, or you could have just a comfy chair with a few pillows and a blanket. You can have as much or as little as you would like.

This is YOUR area!

I'm going to share with you my "Peace Area" from my home. It might help inspire you when making your own! If you already have one, please share pictures!

Here are some pictures of my peace areas:

Here is a picture of my cat Figaro! He loves being in this peaceful space, too, especially when looking out the window. Animals help you to feel peaceful inside as well!

Here are some pictures of what your peace area could look like:

Craft - Glitter Jar!

Glitter jars are a great thing to help with calming. We have 2 in our classroom that I've made over the years.

To make glitter jars you will need:

  • A jar or plastic bottle (plastic works better for younger children)

  • A jug of warm water

  • Glitter glue

  • 3 drops of gel food coloring

  • Glitter

Step 1: Add warm water to your jar or bottle until it reaches around a third of the way up.

Step 2: Add the glitter glue and stir until it combined with the water.

Step 3: Add around 3 drops of food color and stir. You can add more or less depending on your preferred shade, but remember not to add too much or the mixture will become very dark and it will become hard to see the glitter.

Step 4: Pour in the glitter! Again, you can use more or less than suggested, or go for a mix of chunky and fine glitter to give more texture to your jar. Stir well until combined with the existing mixture.

Step 5: Top up your jar with the rest of the warm water, until it is almost full. Leave a little gap at the top of the jar to allow the mixture to move.

*Tip - Glue on the lid so everything doesn't fall out!

SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my peaceful areas at home; I'm looking forward to seeing yours at your home! Let me know if you need more ideas for things to put in your peaceful area.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
