Roald Dahl, was born on September 13, 1916 in Llandaff, Wales and died on November 23, 1990 in Oxford, England. He was a British writer, and a popular author of many famous children's books. A lot of his books have been made into movies!
He went to boarding school when he was younger in 1929, where many bizarre and memorable events happened which he wrote about in the book Boy. The students were invited to try different types of new chocolate bars as a trial, and it was a memory that stayed with him throughout his life, inspiring Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Roald Dahl loved to travel and was inspired by different people, places, and animals. These often inspired his many stories!

I've often told you all, that there was one character in Roald Dahl's Matilda that inspired me to want to be a teacher. That character's name is Miss Honey.
Miss Honey is kind and warm. She cares about the children and helps them every day. She gives Matilda hope and happiness. I wanted to be a teacher just like her!
