Hello boys and girls! It's Miss Jasmine! Today we are talking about Rain, Lightning, and Thunder!
First, we will start with rain! Rain is caused by water vapor, which is small drops of water and is always present in the air. Hot air can hold lots of water vapor. Like steam, when boiling water!
When the air is warm, it rises. As the air rises, it gets colder. Water starts to condense, which means change or make a change, and become liquid. Clouds are lots of liquid water droplets collected together. When you see the clouds get bigger that means the water droplets in the clouds are forming together and when they get heavy enough they fall to the ground as rain! Some benefits of rain are that it can clear out pollution in the air, as well as water plants and puts water back into oceans, lakes, and rivers! It also provides water for animals living in different places all over the world.

Thunderstorms and lightning!
Lightning is a bright flash of electricity produced by a thunderstorm! Within a thundercloud way up in the sky, many small bits of ice (frozen raindrops) bump into each other as they move around in the air. And this action builds up energy for the lightning to spark out of the clouds!
Lightning is very dangerous and when you hear the rumble of thunder you should stay in your house for safety. This electrical charge is much like rubbing your feet on the carpet and then touching a doorknob and getting shocked, or jumping on a trampoline and touching the metal bar to get off and getting shocked! Only much much bigger and brighter.

Science experiment at home:
Hi guys! I wanted to show you how rain pours down! There is water in the air and as it moves up they water starts to form together to make a cloud and when the water keep pushing and pushing together the cloud gets super heavy and that’s when rain starts to pour down! In this video, You’ll see the cloud get super heavy with rain and start to pour out below! You can try this at home as well!
What you’ll need is:
a cup of water( about a third the way full)
shaving cream
food dye
a small dropper or spoon to slowly pour your rain in!
