We have a lot of fun things to learn about! We're going to be exploring all about seeds. What they are, what foods come from seeds, the life cycle, and the parts of a seed! I'm also going to read you a few books as well! So let's jump right in!

In this video, I soaked a few lima beans for a couple of hours in a bowl of water. After a while, the lima bean grows bigger and it's easy to see the different parts of a seed!
Now I'm going to read to you one of my favorite books by Eric Carle called:
The Tiny Seed
Science experiment: Sprouting a Lima Bean

What You Need
Quart-sized clear plastic storage bag
Paper towel
Water
Dried beans (lima beans)
Tape
What to Do
Take one sheet of regular-sized paper towels and run it under water. Squeeze out the excess water and undo the wad.
Place the wrapped bean in a plastic bag, and seal the bag. The wet paper towel and sealed bag surrounds the lima bean with moisture. Secure the sandwich bag with clear packing tape, and place it in a sunny window. Keep the paper towel moist during the sprouting process with a spray bottle of water.

Art!
You can also collect seeds at your house and then get a piece of paper, some glue, and then you can make your own design! Make sure to let it dry flat for a while so the seeds don't fall off. Get creative; you can make anything you want! If you do, please send us a picture.
