Hello boys and girls, it's Miss Jasmine! Before we start I want to ask:
Do you know what some of the plants that we eat?
Today we are going to talk a bit about some of the plants we eat! Which parts of the plant do we usually eat? The seed? The fruit?
When we eat asparagus, we are eating the stem of the plant.
When we eat spinach or lettuce, we are eating the plant’s leaves.
We eat the fruit of squash, cucumber, and tomato plants.
When we eat corn or peas we are eating seeds.
When we eat radish or carrot, we are eating roots.
Cauliflower and broccoli plants produce flowers we like to eat!
What’s your favorite plant to eat? Here are some plants we see that we eat the most! Plants that grow from the ground and we eat are rooted plants, and some of the rooted plants are carrots, radish, and turnips!
When we eat broccoli we are eating the flower of the plant! We are also eating a flowering plant when we eat cauliflower.
When we eat corn, beans, and peas we are eating the seeds of the plant!
When we eat celery, asparagus, and leeks we are eating the stem of the plant.
When we eat tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash we are eating the fruits of the plant!
When we are eating plants like lettuce, spinach, and cabbage we are eating the leaves of the plant!
A fun coloring activity you can do at home with parents! Color all of the Plants you see and then try and guess if you think it’s a fruit, seed, root, flower, stem, or a leaf plant!
